After updating to macOS 26 and playing around with it for a day there's clearly no way I'm going to adopt this floating sidebar and new toolbar design. Implemented my own sidebar and custom toolbar, works pretty well with the help of: https://github.com/stevengharris/SplitView

So annoying that I have to do this.

Also noticed Xcode no long shows you your open files making it difficult to flip between them. Haven't figured out a way to bring this back or use an alternative aside from navigating back and forth which isn't optimal.
